Ben Stein Jumps The Shark, Twice

Ben Stein has always certainly possessed raw intelligence, very likely a genius. The first time I really took notice of him was when he basically played himself in the hilarious adult animated show 'Duckman' basically playing Ned Flanders to Duckman's Homer Simpson. Then there was 'Ben Stein's Money' which he was able to show his remarkable wit. I was a huge fan. Then I saw him years after I first watched 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' as the droning teacher, "Bueller? Bueller?" which he reprised in a commercial a few years ago.

Now, it seems that he has taken a serious anti-science, dare I say anti-intellectual stand in a documentary that he stars in, called "Expelled! No Intelligence Allowed" in which he talks on and on about how proponents of Creation Design are being suppressed, fired, and downright persecuted. (one review here) People, you have to understand, you cannot make science and religion into one. Like many things, there needs to be some seperation. Creationism is not science, and science is not creationism. Creationism is creationism and science is science. It's like apples and oranges. We should stop trying to confuse the two.

Also last night, I was at my parents place and switching channels, when I turned on to something called "America's Most Smartest Model" on CityTV, which is about testing both male and female models, both mentally and physically, playing up to those old stereotypes about models being totally vacuous. There were a few bits worth watching, but it was basically another exercise in the dumbing down of the masses via "reality" TV. And guess who was the host. That wasn't a question.
Ben, Ben, Ben. I used to like you, but now you've drunk from the neo-con Kool-Aid, and pander to the worst of pop culture, contributing to the stupefying of the masses. Shame on you.
